This weekend we went on our second bike trip of the year. Friday night we went to Frida's with the salsa class and were out until 2 AM, so we had a slow start Saturday. So we got out the door at 11:30 AM. It was a sunny day but SUPER windy, this arctic blast was unpleasant and freezing. But at least it didn't rain. We had triscuits and cheddar cheese for lunch, and gatorade. The wind got worse as the day went on, and at one point I sat against a restroom wall at a park to avoid the wind while Thomas took an ibuprofen to treat his wind head ache.

We got a peaceful drive in site at New Glarus Woods State Park (the hike in sites are too close to a highway, although they are more private the trucks you can hear make them worse). We started our dinner with instant tomato soup (very good) before spaghetti with alla vodka sauce (the best sauce). We went on a hike in the woods after dinner, and then came back to kahlua and a fire. Thomas brough his mini lap top along and worked on his paper.

The next morning Megan went on a hike and came back to find that Thomas had put instant pudding mix in his coffee! He thought it was hot chocolate mix!

We saw two Rose-breasted Grosbeaks mating at breakfast (this is not a very common sight).

We left at 11 AM and made it back to Madison at 5:30. We stopped in Paoli for ice cream (and coffee) on the way back. We went a total of 73 miles, 8.2 miles per hour (it was hilly, windy, and this was our second time out this year), and were on the bikes for 8 hours and 47 minutes.

Thomas's highlight was that he heard a great horned owl at night and thinks he heard the grosbeak in the morning. And Thomas found a pupa of the Promethea Moth which is probably alive!
